26.9.11. The almost last job was done today, the fitting of a ladder in case someone needs to climb out of the slipway after falling into the water.
The pump that has been keeping the coffer dam dry all these last six months has been switched off to allow the water to take over. The pile driving company has been called to take their piles away next week. One last job, for Thursday, is to fill the gate jambs with concrete to seal them. This will allow us to pump the slipway dry if we need to in future years, by lowering a gate into place against the jambs.
This of course, is just the halfway point, though it will allow us to slip boats. The cutting and welding of the track for the boat lifting machine is still to be done, and that is no mean job.
