It's now the 30th of April and we start to remove all the stone put into the slipway as a bed for the piling machine. It is to be used for our own purposes later. The pumping out continues.

3rd of May now, and leaks begin to show themselves. This was called the babbling brook and was heavy enough to demand correction to be able to get on with the job of building the slip. To keep pace with it's flow into the coffer dam, we had at times to use 5 pumps! It came out from under the jetty, about half way along, but where it got under the jetty was anyone's guess.

16.5.11 and we continue to track the leaks, trying to seal them with ash and clay, then directing them into deeper sections so they can be controlled by regular pumping. They continued to find ways through the piles asnd jetty and even under the road, this turned out to be a major and permanent one.

2.6.11. One of the ways we used was to provide a large plastic curtain over the jetty, but even this failed.
