24.2.12. More work on securing the final track length. The process was to drill 25mm holes in selected positions at the ends and middle of each length of track. This was with a Rotomag drill loaned by Dennis, Knights of Olde. It was Dennis who made the impressive end stops that will be fitted to the ends of the tracks. The drill used an electromagnet to hold it to the track to drill through the 30mm of steel, track and frame top plate, with a 25mm endmill. The endmill was then replaced with a countersink tool and suitably deep countersinks were cut in each hole. Countersink bolts and nuts were then fitted and tightened. Some 70 plus. Countersink bolts so as to present a smooth surface for the tyres of the WE. The work-hardened skin of the tracks made it necessary to apply human weight to accomplish the task, as the magnet wasn't strong enough to hold it in place.
